New England Patriots Fall To 1-3 With 38-3 Loss

The New England Patriots traveled to Dallas to take on the Cowboys in what was a homecoming for Ezekiel Elliott.

Elliott had six rushes for 16 yards in his homecoming while also catching two passes for six yards.

Dallas opened up the scoring with a field goal on their first giving the Cowboys an early 3-0 lead. New England on their first drive also made a field goal tying the game at 3-3.

The Cowboys then went on to score 35 unanswered points from the 3-3 tie. Dallas ended the first quarter with a CeeDee Lamb receiving touchdown from Dak Prescott.

In the second quarter the Cowboys had two defensive touchdowns, first a fumble recovery touchdown by Leighton Vander Esch and then after a Brandon Aubrey field goal DaRon Bland intercepted a Mac Jones pass and returned it 54 yards for a touchdown.

Dallas led 28-3 at halftime and added 10 more points after the half with another Aubrey field goal in the third quarter and a Hunter Luepke rushing touchdown for three yards in the fourth quarter.

Patriots quarterback Mac Jones was subbed out in the third quarter after having one fumble and two interceptions. Jones said postgame “definitely disappointed in myself.”

Defensive end Deatrich Wise postgame told reporters “Got to go back to the film and see what we did wrong.”

Coach Bill Belichick also spoke postgame saying “We’re a much better team than we showed tonight.”

New England will have a Chance to prove they are better than shown when they take on the New Orleans Saints next week at home on Sunday October 8 at 1:00 PM EST.
