UConn’s football team hosted NC State at on Thursday night. It was one of a slate of games to kick off Week 1 of the 2023 college football season.
The Huskies scored first at the 8:21 mark when Victor Rosa rushed for an 18-yard score. NC State tied the game as Brennan Armstrong rushed for a 4-yard score of his own. The game would remained tied at 7 at the end of the first quarter.
The lone score of the second quarter came as time expired as Brayden Narveson kicked a 44-yard field goal, giving NC State the 10-7 lead at halftime.
The Wolfpack extended their lead to 17-7 in the third quarter with a one-yard run from D Mimms III. UConn would close the gap to 17-14 after Rosa scored on a 71-yard run, but with 22 seconds left in the third, Armstrong rushed for his second touchdoen to make it a 24-14 lead for NC State.
Neither team would score in the fourth, and that’s how the game would end. UConn will travel to take on Georgia State next Saturday night in Atlanta. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.
