WooSox Drop Fourth in a Row in 4- loss to Norfolk

The Worcester Red Sox hosted the Norfolk Tides in the fourth game of a six-game series at Polar Park in Worcester, MA on Wednesday night. Norfolk shut out the WooSox 4-0 on Thursday night.

Colby Mayo knocked a three-run home run into deep left field in the top of the first to give the Tides an early 3-0 lead.

David Hamilton stole second and third, his 50th and 51st of the season, and a Ronaldo Hernandez walk loaded the bases for the Woosox with one out in the bottom of the first. Ryan Fitzgerald would strike out swinging, and Bradley Zimmer grounded out to pitcher Bruce Zimmerman. They would leave the bases loaded and still trailed 3-0 after one.

Yu Chang would score off a Bobby Dalbec single in the bottom of the third to make it a 3-1 game. Chang was then involved in a scary collision at first base in the top of the fourth when Dalbec attempted to throw a grounder to first and Shayne Fontana ran into him. Chang remained on the field for a few minutes before being walked off. Stephen Scott replaced Chang at first base.

Daz Cameron scored the Tides’ fourth run on a sacrifice fly from Ramon Rodriguez in the top of the eighth. Fitzgerald scored on a Zimmer double in the bottom of the ninth, cutting it to a 4-2 game.

With no outs and men on first and third, Hamilton grounded out into a 6-4-3 double play, allowing Zimmer to score to cut it to 4-3. Christian Koss then grounded out to end the game.

Worcester and Norfolk will play Game 3 of this series tomorrow at Polar Park in Worcester. First pitch is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. ET.
