The Worcester Red Sox hosted the Norfolk Tides in the first of a six-game series at Polar Park in Worcester, MA on Tuesday night. The WooSox were coming off a series out in Rochester against the Red Wings of which they took four of six.
You Chang hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the second to give Worcester an early 3-0 lead. After Heston Kjersatd hit an RBI triple to make the score 3-1, Kyle Stowers knocked a two-run home run to left center field to tie the game at 3.
With the bases loaded in the bottom of the third, Bradley Zimmer hit a line-drive single into left field, allowing Stephen Scott and Ryan Fitzgerald to score, making it a 5-3 game.
Trailing 6-4 in the top of the seventh, Norfolk would tie the game at six when Joey Ortiz and Daz Cameron scored on a Josh Lester groundout followed by a throwing error by Yu Chang.
Colby Mayo would give the Tides their first lead of the night in the top of the ninth with a two-run home run into left field. Norfolk would close out Worcester in the bottom of the night to close out the 8-6 victory.
These two teams will meet again tomorrow at Polar Park in Worcester. First pitch is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. ET.
