NewsTalk New England’s very own photo journalist Tammy McManaway is taking part in the Buzz Off for kids with cancer.
McManaway told me “This is my 3 time buzzing. My first time was after a close friend of my son passed when he was in 8th grade from cancer. I was able to donate my hair the first 2 times, this time it wouldn’t have been long enough. It is an Amazing event.”
McManaway has a page herself where you can support the cause of shaving your head for kids with cancer.
You can donate at https://mybuzzoff.org/page/tammymcmanawaybuzz
Which is donating to McManaway’s personal page or for the general link where you can sponsor a buzzer or donate to One Missions general fund go to buzzforkids.org/donate
One Mission since 2010 has seen more than 9,000 heads shaved in support along with 11 million dollars donated.
With the slogan “heads shaved lives changed” One Mission aims to give support to honor the brave warriors who fight cancer and raise money for those small warriors.
One Mission also has this statement on their website “ Kids with cancer are still just kids. They love movie nights, play dates, ice cream and pizza parties. They love books, toys and games. One Mission does whatever it takes to make those things possible for patients and their families. Whether it’s providing arts and crafts, putting on birthday parties and holiday celebrations, or paying for expensive hospital parking, these things go a long way to making life better for kids fighting cancer and their families.”
You can join them for their in person shave off event at Gillette Stadium on June 18 or shave your head virtually.
