Saturday afternoon in Worcester, the WooSox hosted the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (AAA-New York Yankees) for game five of their six-game series. The series was split 2-2 coming into Saturday’s game but the WooSox 7-6 win, they now own this series 3-2.
The RailRiders grabbed their first three runs of the game at the top of the second, and got their fourth run of the game at the top of the sixth.
In the bottom of the sixth, the WooSox loaded the bases, Nick Sogard walked and that got Jake Alfaro over the plate to make it a 4-1 game. Bases still loaded, Niko Goodrum walked and Ronaldo Hernandez made it over the plate to make it a 4-2 game.
Worcester got their third run of the game with Wilyer Abreu in the bottom of the seventh.
In the bottom of the eighth, Worcester got their fourth run with David Hamilton to make it a 4-4 game.
Top of the ninth the RailRiders grabbed their fifth run of the game to take the lead, 5-4. But in the bottom of the ninth, Worcester got their fifth run of the game with Greg Allen hitting a triple to get Marcus Wilson over the plate to make it a 5-5 game, and send it to the tenth inning.
Estevan Florial scored for the RailRiders in the tenth to make it a 6-5 game. But in the bottom of the tenth Goodrum scored for Worcester to make it a 6-6 tie game.
Worcester won this game in the bottom of the eleventh with Greg Allen hitting a sac fly to get Marcus Wilson over the plate to make it 7-6.
The WooSox and the RailRiders will meet for game six of this series Sunday afternoon and Worcester will be looking to own this series 4-2.
