Sunday afternoon the Red Sox hosted the Los Angeles Angels at Fenway for game three of a four-game series. To win the series the Red Sox needed a win Sunday or Monday, and they got the W, beating the Angels 2-1, and improve to 3-2 in series play.
Top of the second Drury singled to right to help het Rendon over the plate for the Angels to make it a 1-0 game. Turner hit a homer 386 feet to left and got Verdugo over the plate for the Sox to grab the lead 1-2.
Whitlock threw for seven, allowing just 3-1 and struck out five. He set career highs in innings pitched and pitches thrown. He allowed a run in the second inning, and retired 14 of the next 16 batters he faced.
Ryan Brasier closed for the Sox, throwing just one inning and retiring the Angels’ 1-2-3 hitters to record his first save of the season and his 9th career save.
