Connecticut Sun Players On The Court Overseas

The Connecticut Sun players during their off-season, like most WNBA athletes, take time to stay in shape and play overseas over the last couple of weeks. Some players from the Sun have had some great games overseas.

On Tuesday, January 31st, Dewanna Bonner and CBK Mersin defeated Schio 79-67 in Euro League action. Bonner led her team with a 20 point, 10 rebound double-double performance. Bonner also tallied four assists and a block in the win. 

Alyssa Thomas, Brionna Jones, and USK Prague also played on the 31st in a matchup where they fell 73-66 in Euro League Play. Jones led the way with 16 points and nine rebounds. Thomas added six points and six rebounds of her own.

On January 4th, a couple of weeks earlier, Joyner Holmes and her team Sassari picked up a win versus Campobasso in the Italian League 72-65. Holmes led her team with 21 points and eight rebounds. 

Olivia Nelson-Ododa and the Melbourne Boomers took home a 115-72 win over Bendigo on Sunday, February 5. Nelson-Ododa came off the bench to score 14 points, along with tallying eight rebounds, five assists, two steals, and two blocks in the victory.

Connecticut Sun players are back in overseas action next week beginning with Nelson-Ododa and the Melbourne Boomers taking on Townsville at 2:30 AM EST; Jones, Thomas and USK Prague playing Chomutov at 4:00 AM EST; and Ty Harris and Cankaya matching up against Rize at 5:00 AM EST on February 15. Bonner and CBK Mersin take on Nesibe Aydin at 8:00 AM EST; and Natisha Hiedeman and Maccabi Ashdod play Asa Jerusalem at 12:00 PM EST on February 16. Thomas, Jones, and USK Prague match up against Strakonice at 12:00 PM. EST on February 17. On February 18, Holmes and Sassari faced off against Faenza at 8:30 AM EST. To close out the week, Nelson-Ododa and Melbourne play Sydney at 1:00 AM EST; Mikiah Herbert Harrigan and the London Lions take on the Caledonia Gladiators at 7:30 AM EST; Ty Harris and Cankaya play Ormanspor at 8:00 AM EST; and Bonner and CBK Mersin take on Galatasaray at 9:00 AM EST on February 19.
