Jamaica Plain Man Arrested After Hitting 2 Boston Police Officers With His Car

Sunday afternoon two Boston Police Officers assigned to the Puerto Rican Day Parade were struck by a motor vehicle. The incident happened at approximately 12:20 PM, in the area of Peter Parley Road and Walnut Avenue in Jamaica Plain.

The vehicle approached a wooden barrier which was placed at the intersection to stop vehicular traffic from entering the area. The operator of the vehicle who has been identified as Jamauree Haygood, 28, of Jamaica Plain was given verbal command by Officers to seek another route however Haygood disregarded those verbal commands and proceeded to drive through the barriers, striking the officers, before coming to a stop.

Both officers were transported to an area hospital where they were treated for injuries which were considered non-life-threatening. 

Haygood was taken into custody and is charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Recklessly so as to Endanger and Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
