Minor League Thursday – Worcester And Manchester Fall Short While Hartford And Portland Come Out As Winners

Thursday night down in Allentown, PA the Worcester Red Sox fell two straight against the IronPigs. Ryan Fitzgerald was the solo run of the game for Worcester at the top of the fourth. For the IronPigs, at the bottom of the fourth Yairo Munoz hit his second homer of the season and then at the bottom of the fifth, Dalton Guthrie scored. The IronPigs claimed a 1-2 win and lead this six-game series 1-2. 

The Hartford Yard Goats played game three of six against the Richmond Flying Squirrels and claimed a 7-4 win Thursday night. After three scoreless innings, Ezequiel Tovar got the first run of the game to give the Yard Goats a 1-0 lead and then Aaron Schunk hit his tenth double of the season to drive in Michael Toglia and Brenton Doyle to put the Yard Goats ahead 3-0. At the bottom of the fifth, the Flying Squirrels had two runs to make it a 3-2 Yard Goats lead. After a scoreless sixth, Isaac Collins at the top of the seventh hit his sixth double of the season to help drive in Niko Decolati and Jimmy Herron and make it a 5-2 Yard Goats lead. A single by Michael Toglia at the top of the seventh helped to drive in Isaac Collins and make it a 6-2 Yard Goats lead. The Flying Squirrels got a homer and a run at the bottom of the 8th to make it a 6-4 Yard Goats lead and then at the top of the ninth Niko Decolati sored to get the 7-4 win for the Yard Goats.

In Portland, Maine the Sea Dogs claimed a 3-1  win Thursday night against the Somerset Patriots. Elijah Dunham opened this game up with a homer for the Patriots but that was all the Patriots had for the Sea Dogs who had two runs at the bottom of the third with Elih Marrero and David Hamilton. At the bottom of the sixth, Tyreque Reed hit his fourth double of the season for the Sea Dogs to help drive in Wil Dalton and secure the win in this contest but also get the fifth straight win for the Sea Dogs. 

The Manchester Fisher Cats Thursday night came up short against the Akron Rubber Ducks. After two scoreless innings the Rubber Ducks opened this game up at the bottom of the third with a homer by Chris Roller to get the Rubber Ducks a 0-1 lead. With a run at the bottom of the fourth the Rubber Ducks pulled ahead with a 0-2 lead. After five scoreless innings the Fisher Cats pulled up to this game at the top of the sixth with a single by Philip Clarke to drive in Rafael Lantigua and make it a 1-2 Rubber Ducks lead. With Luis De Los Santos scoring at the top of the 8th, this contest was tied 2-2 but at the bottom of the 8th George Valera hit a dinger to drive in Brayan Rocchio and get the 2-4 win for the Rubber Ducks.
