Worcester Red Sox Come Up Short With 6-7 Loss Against The IronPigs

The Worcester Red Sox came up short Wednesday night losing 7-6 against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in game two of their six-game meeting down in Allentown, PA. Worcester opened up this game at the top of the first with Rob Refsnyder hitting a single to drive in Ryan Fitzgerald but at the bottom of the first, Dustin Peterson hit his seventh double of the season for the IronPigs to drive in Nick Maton and tie this contest up 1-1. 

At the top of the third Jarren Duran scored to put Worcester on top 1-2 and then at the top of the fourth Christin Stewart scored to put Worcester ahead 1-3 but the IronPigs came in hot at the bottom of the fourth with a homer by Scott Kingery to drive in Nick Maton and tie the game up 3-3. Matt Vierling hit a single to drive in Drew Maggi and put the IronPigs on top 3-4. At the top of the fifth the IronPigs grabbed a 3-6 lead with Austin Wynns and Darick Hall both scoring. At the top of the 8th, Worcester made it a 4-6 contest with Jonathan Arauz scoring but at the bottom of the 8th Nick Maton scored to make it a 4-7 IronPigs lead. At the top of the ninth, Ryan Fitzgerald’s tenth homer of the season to drive in Connor Wong made this a 6-7 game. 

With a 13-2 Worcester win Tuesday night this series is now 1-1 and game three of this six-game series is Thursday night when Worcester will attempt to bounce back from tonight’s loss.
