Double-A Tuesday: Yard Goats And Sea Dogs Get Wins While Fisher Cats Come Up Short

On Tuesday night the Hartford Yard Goats got their third straight win on the road as they played game one of their six-game set against the Richmond Flying Squirrels at The Diamond. In the bottom of the third Michael Gigliotti opened this game up for the Flying Squirrels hitting his second homer of the season to drive in Jacob Heyward and make it a 0-2 Flying Squirrels lead. After six scoreless innings Brenton Doyle scored for the Yard Goats at the top of the seventh to get them into this contest and make it a 1-2 Flying Squirrels lead. Shane Matheny in the bottom of the seventh hit a single to drive in Brandon Martorano and push the Flying Squirrels to a 1-3 lead but they sometimes one run is all it takes to get things rolling and well maybe Doyle’s run in the seventh got things rolling for Ezequiel Tovar to hit his ninth homer of the season at the top of the 8th. Aaron Shunk then hit a single to drive in Brenton Doyle and make it a 3-3 tie game. At the top of the tenth Jimmy Herron got the run to secure a 4-3 win for the Yard Goats. 

At Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine the Sea Dogs claimed a 2-1 win against the Somerset Patriots. The first three innings of this contest went scoreless but at the top of the fourth Brandon Lockridge scored to make it a 1-0 Patriots lead but then David Hamilton scored in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 1-1 tie game. This game was over in the bottom of the fifth with Christian Koss scoring to make it a 1-2 Sea Dogs game. 

At Canal Park in Akron, Ohio the Fisher Cats came up short against the RubberDucks with a 9-2 loss.
