Worcester Red Sox Fall Short In Game 3 Against Syracuse Mets

By Tiffany Williams –

The Worcester Red Sox were looking to find their way back to the winning column on Thursday night in their third road contest against the Syracuse Mets but unfortunately not even a 9th inning rally could save them in this 8-10 loss.

What the WooSox did get back into was hitting homers, four homers to be exact and the first homer came at the top of the third by Yolmer Sanchez. The Second homer came at the top of the fourth by Ryan Fitzgerald to drive in Yolmer Sanchez and Grant Williams. The third homer came at the top of the 5th by Triton Casas and the fourth homer of the game came at the top of the 9th by Christin Stewart to drive in Jeter Downs and Franchy Cordero.

Ryan Fitzgerald has now hit five homers out of the forty six times we’ve seen him at bat to start the season. Fitzgerald has ten hits, fourteen runs, fourteen RBI and his batting average is .304.

In the fifty four times we’ve seen Triston Casas at bat to start the season, he has four homers, fourteen runs, thirteen hits and his batting average is .241.

The Worcester Red Sox didn’t start this season off as a disappointment but they have disappointed in the first three games of this six-game road set against the Syracuse Mets. When they come back to NBT Bank Stadium for game four Friday night, they’ll be looking to turn the corner and put these first three in their rearview mirror  to finish the last three stronger.
