This Is A Sports Packed Fun Saturday For New England

In Hartford Saturday the Yard Goats at 1:05 PM, will play game two of their weekend homestand against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (NY-Mets affiliate). On Friday night the Rumble Ponies won the opener 8-2 but today the Yard Goats are looking to turn things around and get into the win column. 6,542 people, a sellout crowd Friday night for the second home opener of the Yard Goats whose last home opener was against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in 2018. Saturday, Nick Bush, Rockies 8th round pick in 2018 will make his season debut today. Bush is entering his fourth season in the MiLB. In 2021 he Went 0-4, 5.40 ERA (7GS) at Hartford. He was Promoted to Hartford and made Yard Goats debut July 7 against Portland Sea Dogs (Red Sox Double-A Affiliate). On July 30, he pitched into the 9th against Binghamton (8.1 IP 8H 2R 1BB 7K). Saturday’s meeting between the Yard Goats and Rumble Ponies will be the second of 24 games this season against the Rumble Ponies and the first of three series at Dunkin Donuts Park. The Yard Goats visit Binghamton, New York in July and September. The Rumble Ponies will return to Hartford in May and June.

At 121 Financial Ballpark in downtown Jacksonville, Florida the Worcester Red Sox will have their 5th meeting this week with the Jumbo Shrimp, on Saturday at 6:35 PM. The WooSox lead this series with three of four after a phenomenal performance by Franchy Cordero, Jeter Downs and Johan Mieses Friday night. The WooSox have 3 in 3. Three homers in each of their last three games. Ryan Fitzgerald is leading the league with three homers and Franchy Cordero is fired up with 2 homers and eight RBI. Triston Casas, Jeter Downs, Johan Mieses, Roberto Ramos, and Yolmer Sanchez each have hit a homer in the season opener series against the Jumbo Shrimp. Thursday, RHP Ralph Garza was designated for assignment and claimed by Tampa Bay. RHP Eduard Bazardo was designated for assignment but has not yet been claimed. After losing last Saturday in their match with New York Red Bulls, the New England Revolution are looking to find their way back to the win column on Saturday in a match with Inter Miami CF at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The match will be nationally televised at 3:00 p.m. ET on ESPN and ESPN Deportes.

With five consecutive losses in April, the Worcester Railers need a win. The Railers are hoping that win will come Saturday night on the ice at the DCU Center. 

The Massachusetts Pirates kicked off their 2022 season with a win against the he Frisco Fighters, they had two bye weeks and then returned to the DCU Center to claim a win against the Quad City Steamwheelers. Saturday night the Massachusetts Pirates will be on the road for a meeting with the Bismarck Bucks at the Bismarck Event Center at 4:05 PM in Bismarck, ND.

Okay, the most talked about game of the year is set to go down today. The three-time defending Patriot League Champions, the Holy Cross football team’s annual Spring Game is Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Kuzniewski Field, and admission is free for everyone.
