Former Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins who was a first-round pick by Washington in 2019 and was with the Pittsburgh Steelers, died Saturday morning.
Florida Highway Patrol said that Haskins was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of I-595 in Broward County when he was hit. Around 6:37 a.m. Haskins was pronounced dead on the scene.
It remains unclear how or why Haskins ended up on the highway, but a traffic homicide investigation is ongoing, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin and the Washington Commanders confirmed the news.
Haskins was born in New Jersey and played high school football at Bullis School in Potomac, Md.
