The Hartford Yard Goats were looking for a win Saturday but instead they got an epic victory beating the Binghamton Rumble Ponies 13-2.
The Yard Goats dominated the game from the bottom of the second with Brenton Doyle getting the first run of the game but in the bottom of the third is when this game started rolling with Ezequiel Tovar scoring. Then Brenton Doyle hit a single and Michael Toglia and Willie Maclver both scored. The hits kept coming with Aaron Shunk hitting his first homer and Brenton Doyle scoring. Hunter Stovall hit a double and Jimmy Hereon scored. Before the third inning would come an end Ezequiel Tovar hit his first homer and Hunter Stovall scored to end the third inning rally 0-10 Yard Goats lead.
In the bottom of the fourth Willie Maclver, Brenton Doyle and Aaron Shunk scored to make it a 0-13 Yard Goats lead.
At the top of the 8th the Rumble Ponies got a homer and a solo run to make it a 2-13 Yards Goat game.
The Yard Goats and Rumple Ponies conclude the three-game series on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 PM. RHP Garrett Schilling will start for the Yard Goats and RHP Alex Valverde will start for the Rumble Ponies. The game will be broadcast on Newsradio 1410 WPOP.
