Wednesday afternoon Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon a Democrat representing Pennsylvania’s 5th congressional district, was the victim of a carjacking in Philadelphia.
Congresswoman Scanlon who is the vice chair of the House Administration Committee and serves on the House Judiciary Committee and House Committee on Rules, was in Philadelphia for a meeting and the carjacking took place in the FDR Park area around 2:45 p.m.
A spokesperson from her office says that she was unharmed but the carjacking was at gunpoint.
Police confirmed Wednesday night that Scanlon’s car was found in Newark, Delaware and that five people who were in the car at the time, all have been taken into custody.
