Worcester Beats Syracuse 4-0 As Jeter Downs Hits His 14th Homer

Saturday night, back at NBT Bank Stadium in Syracuse. The Worcester Red Sox had only four hits and 2 runs in this game. Syracuse had eight hit and no runs in this game.

The first inning went scoreless and then at the top of the second, Jeter Downs hit his 14 homer of the season and got his 24th RBI for the season (Connor Wong) to make it a 2-0, Worcester lead.

Jeter Downs has had three homers in September and all three have been in this series against Syracuse. He’s also had three RBI in this series.

After going six scoreless innings, at the top of the 9th, Tate Matheny hit his first triple and then a fielding error drove him home to make it a 3-0, Worcester lead.

The Worcester Red Sox were not leaving this game tonight without getting at least one more run. Also, at the top of the 9th, Joey Meneses hit his 5th homer of the season to make it 4-0, Worcester lead.

The final at NBT Bank Stadium was Worcester 4 and the Syracuse Mets 0.

Sunday afternoon the Worcester Red Sox and the Syracuse mets will be back at NBT Bank Stadium.
