Worcester Beats Buffalo 4-2

Tuesday night the Worcester Red Sox were in Downtown Buffalo, at Sahlen Field where they claimed a 4-2 win against the Buffalo Bisons.

The first two innings of this game went scoreless for both teams. It was at the top of the third when the Worcester Red Sox got 2-0 lead with both Johan Mieses and Delino DeShields both scoring.

the fourth inning went scoreless for both teams. At the top of the fifth inning, the Worcester Red Sox took a 4-0 lead with both  Delino DeShields and Jarren Duran scoring.

In the bottom of the fifth after four scoreless innings, the Buffalo Bisons pulled themselves into the game with both Logan Warmoth and Otto Lopez scoring to make it a 4-2 game.

Jarren Duran, who was called up to the Boston Red Sox in July, was optioned back to the Worcester Red Sox on Tuesday in time to play Tuesday night against the Buffalo Bisons. In his debut in the majors, with the Boston Red Sox, Duran played in 27 game, hitting .221/ ,236/ .372 with two homers and a single steal while striking out in 37.1 percent of his plate appearances.

Also returning, Jonathan Araúz as he was optioned back to the Worcester Red Sox on Monday after only making nine game appearances with the Boston Red Sox a little over two weeks ago.

Espinal Started for the Worcester Red Sox at the mound Tuesday night and went 5 innings while allowing three hits, two outs and getting four strikeouts. Espinal was relieved by Gonsalves  who went two innings, allowing no hits, no runs and getting 2 strikeouts. Gonsalves was relieved by Kelly who wen for an inning, givving up one hit and allowing no runs. Ort replaced Kelly and went for an inning, allowing one hit, no runs and getting one strikeout.

The Worcester Red Sox and the Buffalo Bisons will be back at Sahlen Field Wednesday night for game two of this six game series.

Tuesday night was also the start of two weeks on the road for the Worcester Red Sox. This week they’ll play six against Buffalo and then next week, will play six against Rochester.
