Massachusetts Pirates Beat Iowa Barnstormers, 55-19

Saturday night, the Massachusetts Pirates were back home in Downtown Worcester where they claimed a 55-19 win against the Iowa Barnstormers.

Saturday night’s win was also the eighth straight win for the Pirates who have clinched the number two seed in the IFL playoffs.

For the Massachusetts Pirates, Thomas Owens in the first quarter had two touchdowns. One kickafter was good and one was failed.

For Iowa, in the first Covaliu had one touchdown with the kickafter good. Gabriel Rui 29 yard field goal was good

3 yd TD for Iowa to get the game going early. The kickafter was good and it was a 7-0, Iowa lead.

The first quarter ended with the Massachusetts Pirates leading 13-10

The Massachusetts Pirates, in the second quarter, Santos Ramirez had a fumble recovery and got a TD. Laquvionte Gonzalez had a 50 yard kickoff return for a TD. Justin Stockton had a TD

In the second quarter for Iowa, Gabriel Rui  had 32 yd field goal.

The second quarter ended with the Massachusetts Pirates leading 33-13.

The Massachusetts Pirates in the third quarter, Ali Mourtada got a 30 yard field goal and then got a 44 yard field goal.

The third quarter ended with the Massachusetts Pirates leading 41-13.

In the fourth quarter, Thomas Owens had two touchdowns for the Massachusetts Pirates. 

For Iowa, in the fourth quarter, Rasberry had a TD.

The fourth quarter and game ended with the Massachusetts Pirates winning 55-19.

Thomas Owens had four touchdaowns Saturday night and ends the regular season with 23 touchdowns. Laquvionte Gonzalez ends the regular season with 12 touchdowns. Alejandro Bennifield ends the regular season with 16 rushing touchdowns.

The Massachusetts Pirates will play their first playoff game at home at the DCU Center, Saturday, August 28, against the Bismarck Bucks. Kickoff is expected to be at 6:05 PM.
