Worcester Sunk By Rochester, Bravehearts Fall To Nashua, Pirates Get A Win And Bruins Fall In Game 4

On Sunday afternoon, a beautiful day for baseball and honoring the Hispanic culture at Polar Park and also, again a tribute to officer Emmanuel “Manny” Familia and his family. Manny’s son before throwing out the first pitch wrote his dads badge number in the dirt at the mound.

The Worcester Red Sox lost game one on Monday night (6-4). Rochester beat the Worcester Red Sox 18-5 in game two. In Game three the Worcester Red Sox bounced back to beat Rochester 3-1 and in game four of this six game homestand, the Worcester Red Sox beat Rochester 12-1. In game five Rochester beat Worcester

Sunday, in game six and the final game of this six game homestand, for Rochester at the top of the first, Carter Kieboom hit a homer to get the Rochester Red Wings on the board and make it a 1-0 game. In the top of the second, for Rochester, Tres Barrera hit a homer and got an RBI (Brandon Snyder), to make it a 3-0 Rochester game. The Worcester Red Sox in the bottom of the second got on the board with Jeter Downs, Connor Wong, Chris Herrmann,Michael Chavis and Marcus Wilson all scored to make it a 5-3 game, (Worcester Lead. Rochester came back in the top of the fifth, with Luis Garcia hitting a homer and getting an RBI (Tres Barrera) to make it a 5-5 game. in the sixth, Jake Nolll scored to make it a 6-5 game for Rochester and then Tres Barrera hit a homer, second of the night and got his fifth RBI (Blake Swihart and Brandon Snyder) to make it a 9-5 game. in the top of the seventh Yasmany Tomas hit a homer for Rochester and got an RBI (Brandon Snyder) to make it a 11-5 Rochester game. Also, in the top of the seventh, Cody Wilson scored to make it a 12-5 game for Rochester.

The final at Polar Park was Worcester 5 and Rochester 12. The Worcester Red Sox will have Monday off before heading to Syracuse, NY. for a six game stretch against the Syracuse Mets.

Also, on Sunday the Worcester Bravehearts lost 3-2 to the Nashua Silver Knights at Holman Stadium. The Bravehearts have Monday off before returning to Fitton Field Tuesday evening to host the Norwich Sea Unicorns. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.

On Saturday night, the Massachusetts Pirates beat Xtreme 42-37 at the DCU Center. Mardy Gilyard who ended the 2019 season with an injury, returned Saturday night with 4 catches for 41 yards. Alejandro Bennifield was 14-24, 126 yards, 3 TDs and 2 INTs. Justin Stockton had 13 carries, for 70 yards, with 2 total TDs. Thomas Owens had 2 TDs, Aarion Maxey-Penton had 1 INT, Harlan Miller had 1 Fumble Recovery, the Sack King JD Griggs had 2 sacks and Josh Gable had 3 FGs, 3 XPs made.

Also, on Saturday night, in game four of round two, the Boston Bruins lost 4-1 to the New York Islanders. Boston Bruins and the New York Islanders will meet Monday night for game five and puck drop is at 6:30 p.m.
