Boston Police Investigating 3 Separate Shootings In Roxbury

This weekend in Boston, on Friday night, just before 11 p.m. police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 23 Cheney Street in Roxbury. Upon arrival officers located a male victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Members of the Boston Police Youth Violence Strike Force were able to locate the suspect, Jermaine Grant, 36, of Jamaica Plain who has been charged with attempted murder, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.

On Saturday a gathering in Roxbury ended with a 10-year-old girl shot. Commissioner Gross says that a firearm was discharged at that gathering and a stray bullet went through the wall, striking the young girl. That young girl was taken to an area hospital where she was in critical condition.

On Sunday night, again in Roxbury police responded to yet another shooting. Officers just before 9:30 p.m. responded to the area of 17 Turquoise Way where two men had been shot. Both men were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
