Pelham, NH – Oct. 23 – Two drivers were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following a head-on collision on Mammoth Road near Bush Hill Road Friday evening.

According to the Pelham Police Department, officers and firefighters responded to the scene at approximately 7:21 p.m. on Oct. 23.

Investigators reported that northbound 2020 Honda Civic crossed the double yellow centerline and collided head-on with a southbound 2000 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck.

The Honda’s driver was identified as Mark Breen, 42, of Chelmsford, Massachusetts. Both drivers were taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Police Sergeant Ryan Donovan investigated the crash and determined that impairment was a factor. Witnesses told investigators that following the initial impact, the Honda continued accelerating and struck the pickup truck multiple additional times, pushing in approximately 100 feet north before the vehicles came to a stop.

Breen was charged with felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, driving under the influence, and reckless operation. Following an appearance before a bail commissioner, he was released and scheduled to appear at Salem District Court on Nov. 2, at 8:00 a.m.

Mammoth Road near Bush Hill was closed for approximately one hour while authorities investigated the collision and arranged for the removal of both vehicles.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Sergeant Ryan Donovan at rdonovoan@pelhampolice.com or 603-635-2411. Additional inquiries may be directed to Lieutenant Adam Thistle at athistle@pelhampolice.com
