A federal grand jury indicted Winderson Emiliano Baez-Vasquez, 27, a Dominican national living in Worcester, on an unlawful reentry charge. Prosecutors announced Friday that he was ordered held pending trial after appearing in federal court in Worcester.
Authorities say Baez-Vasquez was deported to the Dominican Republic in November 2019 and later returned without authorization. The release also describes earlier Massachusetts and Florida criminal proceedings.
Prosecutors said he pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property following a 2023 Worcester arrest. They also cited a Florida aggravated assault conviction involving a firearm and an 18-month jail sentence.
The federal case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brendan O’Shea. The reentry allegation has not been proven, and Baez-Vasquez is presumed innocent of the pending charge.
