Connecticut is preparing an outreach effort to help HUSKY D recipients remain enrolled ahead of federal Medicaid rule changes scheduled for January 1, 2027. Governor Ned Lamont joined Stamford Hospital officials Monday to describe the state’s plans, according to his weekly update.
HUSKY D provides health coverage to low-income adults ages 19 through 64. The governor’s office said the federal changes could cause thousands of Connecticut residents to lose coverage.
The state plans to work with community action agencies, hospitals and health centers to support recipients. Stamford’s Stay Covered Task Force will serve as a model for other communities.
Lamont said the goal is to preserve benefits for as many current enrollees as possible. The update did not provide individual eligibility determinations or a complete explanation of the new federal requirements.
