John Valentin, 49, of the Bronx, was sentenced October 8 to six years in prison for possessing cocaine with intent to distribute. Federal prosecutors in Virginia announced the sentence Friday.

Accomack County officers stopped Valentin March 28 for failing to maintain his lane. A drug detection dog alerted officers, who found a hidden compartment beneath the rear seat.

The compartment contained 4.5 kilograms of cocaine. U.S. District Judge Mark Davis imposed the sentence.

Homeland Security Investigations participated in the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Hurt prosecuted.
