Boston’s Hub on Wheels bike ride will return October 3, 2027, with a car-free Storrow Drive, routes through city neighborhoods and a festival on City Hall Plaza. Mayor Michelle Wu announced the revival Monday at the city’s Ride & Chill event in Franklin Park.

Participants will choose among three routes that begin and end at City Hall Plaza. The city said the reimagined event will include a ride through 13 neighborhoods, with additional route details to be released later.

Wayfair is supporting the return through a multiyear title sponsorship. The announcement follows input gathered from Greater Boston cycling organizations and residents through the Conine Family Foundation’s HubLuv initiative.

Hub on Wheels began in 2005 after community advocates helped build support for a citywide ride. It subsequently supported Boston Bikes, launched in 2007, and took place annually through 2019 before the city paused it.

Wu described the returning ride as an opportunity for residents, families and visitors to explore Boston and celebrate its neighborhoods. Cycling advocates also emphasized the importance of safe streets and a connected network of protected bike lanes.

Monday’s Ride & Chill offered biking activities, repair assistance, fitness and dance programming, music and food vendors at Franklin Park. Residents interested in the returning Hub on Wheels can sign up for updates through the city’s event webpage.
