Investigators issue BOLO for Ryan Hanafin following Homicide in Reading

Authorities are investigating the death of a 49-year-old woman whose body was discovered inside a home on Center Avenue in Reading early Thursday morning.

According to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and Reading Police, officers responded to the residence at approximately 12:38 a.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting that a woman had been found inside the home.

Officers located the woman suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are also searching for 22-year-old Ryan Hanafin, who is a member of the household and is currently unaccounted for. His vehicle is also missing.

Authorities believe Hanafin may be driving a 2010 black Dodge Charger bearing Massachusetts license plate 2PSY15. He is described as approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall.

The investigation is being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Reading Police Department, and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

Police are asking anyone who sees Hanafin or the vehicle not to approach or attempt to contact him. Instead, call 911 immediately and provide authorities with the location and any relevant information.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
