MERIDEN, Conn. — A missing juvenile investigation in Meriden led to the arrest of a 24-year-old woman after police said two underage girls were found in a hotel room that had been advertised online for commercial sexual services.
The Meriden Police Department announced Tuesday that the arrest stemmed from an investigation that began on July 12 after officers received a report of a missing juvenile.
According to police, detectives located the missing juvenile during the investigation and found two underage girls in the company of the suspect.
Police arrested the woman on July 13.
She has been charged with two counts of risk of injury to a child, criminal attempt to commit human trafficking in persons, criminal attempt to commit commercial sexual abuse of a minor, promoting prostitution in the first degree and sale of narcotics.
According to the Meriden Police Department, the suspect was initially held on a $1 million bond.
Police said the court later reduced the bond to $750,000, and the suspect was subsequently released after posting the revised bond.
Investigators said the case remains active.
The Meriden Police Department is asking anyone who believes they may have been a victim of these crimes or who has information related to the investigation to contact the department’s Detective Division.
Police have not released additional details about the ongoing investigation.
