Jaylen Brown Traded to Philadelphia in Blockbuster Deal
By William Armstead –

The Boston Celtics have traded star forward Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Paul George, two first round picks and two second round picks, ending one of the NBA’s longest-running star duos.
Brown, who spent his entire career in Boston after being selected third overall in the 2016 NBA Draft, became a pillar of the franchise alongside Jayson Tatum.
Brown accumulated five All-Star selections in his stint with Boston and was Finals MVP in 2024, helping lead them to an NBA championship.
He is coming off a career-best season, averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists.
The relationship between Brown and the Celtics organization was spoiled after the Celtics included Brown in trade talks in an attempt to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Also, Brown and Jayson Tatum’s max contracts created a financial strain, limiting the team’s ability to formulate a balanced roster with depth.
Brown joins a Philadelphia team that pairs established stars Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey with promising young players V. J. Edgecombe and rookie Labaron Philon Jr.
Both teams will now spend the offseason integrating their new players into their systems. It remains to be seen whether the trade strengthens either club’s championship goals next season.
