NORTHFIELD, Mass. — A person has died after a vehicle caught fire on Gulf Road, trapping the operator inside.
According to dispatch traffic, residents called 911 to report a vehicle vs tree with the vehicle being fully engulfed in flames with the fire spreading into nearby trees. Upon arrival emergency crews were met with flames from the vehicle and a brush fire growing. Responders worked quickly to contain the blaze as multiple explosions were reported coming from the burning vehicle.
Despite lifesaving efforts, the operator was later pronounced deceased at the scene.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation, and no additional information has been released at this time.
