SOUTHBRIDGE, MASS — Crews battled a 3rd alarm fire overnight into Wednesday in Southbridge, leaving multiple residents displaced.
Firefighters were called to a multi-family home on Worcester Street just after midnight, where heavy flames were reported shooting through the roof on arrival. The fire quickly escalated, prompting a third alarm response as additional crews were brought in to contain the blaze.
Authorities say the building was occupied at the time, but all residents were able to self-evacuate. No serious injuries have been reported at this time.
The fire has since been knocked down, with crews remaining on scene working hotspots and checking for extension. At least part of the roof collapsed during the incident, and several people have been displaced.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
