An updated development in the earlier crash in Shrewsbury: authorities have confirmed the incident has become fatal following a head-on collision that shut down Route 20 between Hartford Turnpike and South Street.

All individuals involved were transported to the hospital with unknown injuries. Officials have since confirmed that at least one person has died as a result of the crash.

According to the latest information from a Facebook Group called Missing Dogs Massachusetts | Facebook, a dog that was inside one of the vehicles fled the scene and remains missing. The dog, a Rottweiler named Austin, is collared and microchipped.

Anyone who locates or spots the dog is urged to contact Greg at 774-275-1495.

Due to the severity of the crash, CEMLEC was requested to the scene, with officers responding from multiple surrounding communities, including as far as Hopkinton and Westminster.

The vehicles involved have been towed from the scene, and Route 20 has since reopened to traffic.

The crash remains under active investigation
