Brockton — A late-night fire turned deadly early Saturday morning after crews responded to a heavily involved structure fire on Glendale Avenue.
Emergency crews were dispatched shortly after midnight on April 4 to a reported building fire at 80 Glendale Avenue.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire showing from the second floor of the structure.
Crews immediately stretched hose lines and initiated an aggressive interior attack. Officials say the fire had already engulfed the entire second floor, including:
- Hallways
- Bedrooms
- Living areas
Firefighters worked quickly to bring the blaze under control while conducting searches inside the building.
During suppression efforts, crews made a tragic discovery.
Officials confirmed that one victim was located inside the building. The individual had succumbed to thermal injuries as a result of the fire.
No additional information about the victim has been released at this time.
Fire apparatus remained on scene for an extended period as crews continued overhaul operations and began an investigation into the cause of the fire.
Authorities have not yet released details regarding what may have sparked the blaze.
