Boston – Boston Police officers assigned to District C-6 have arrested a 17-year-old juvenile male in connection with a prior South Boston shooting, taking an armed suspect off the streets and recovering a loaded firearm in the process.
The arrest occurred at approximately 4:20 PM on Saturday, March 28, 2026, in the area of F Street and West Sixth Street. Officers were actively searching for a juvenile suspect with a loaded handgun arrested in Connection to the South Boston shootings. The suspect was known to have an outstanding firearm warrant. While patrolling the area, officers observed a group of three males, one of whom matched the description of the wanted individual.
Officers quickly exited their cruiser and safely took the suspect into custody without incident. During a search incident to arrest, officers recovered a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield handgun from the suspect’s waistband. The firearm was loaded, with one round in the chamber and seven rounds in the magazine.
The juvenile was wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier this year. On Thursday, Feb.19, at 12:03 AM, officers from District A-1 responded to Massachusetts General Hospital for a walk-in gunshot victim. The victim had sustained gunshot wounds to the arm and chest and reported the shooting took place in South Boston.
Following the report, District C-6 officers and detectives launched an investigation. Based on witness statements and evidence collected, the shooting was believed to have occurred in the area of West Eighth Street and F Street. Boston Police Crime Scene Response Unit processed the scene, and a vehicle believed to be connected to the incident was located and towed for further examination.
The victim underwent surgery and was later listed in stable condition.
As the investigation progressed, District C-6 Detectives obtained a warrant out of Suffolk County Juvenile Court for multiple serious charges related to the Feb. shooting, including Carrying a firearm without a license, Carrying a loaded Firearm without a license, Armed assault to murder, Discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building and Possession of ammunition without an FID card.
Following Saturday’s arrest, the juvenile is now facing additional charges stemming from the firearm recovered during the apprehension, including Carrying a Firearm without a license, Carrying a loaded firearm without a license and Possession of ammunition without an FID card.
The suspect is expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court.
Boston Police continue to investigate the incident.
The juvenile is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
