Revere – A utility worker was injured Saturday following an electrical incident near 30 Railroad Avenue that also caused a temporary power outage in the surrounding neighborhood.

At 1:24 p.m., police were dispatched to the area near Park North Boston after reports of an individual who suffered electrocution.

Upon arrival, officers found an injured worker on the ground behind a secure chain-link fence topped with barbed and concertina wire. Fire crews cut through the fencing to provide emergency access.

Preliminary findings found that the worker had been performing duties on elevated power lines when he met a live wire, resulting in a significant electrical discharge. He was suspended by a safety harness before co-workers were able to lower him safely to the ground.

Until first responders arrived, a bystander who was in the area, identified as a nurse, intervened. After requesting an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), she climbed over the fence using a nearby snowbank to reach the victim. She remained with him and assisted until police, fire, and EMS personnel took over care.

The 25-year-old worker was transported by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

The incident caused a localized power outage, with electricity restored around 3 p.m. Police state there is no ongoing risk to the public. The matter remains under investigation.

Police commended the bystander for her quick response and willingness to help during the emergency.
