Holden – On Feb. 24, Officers of the Holden Police Department spent part of their day connecting with young learners at Holden’s Hands Learning Center, combining literacy and community outreach in a hands-on visit.
Officer Jessica Furtado read Officer Buckle and Gloria to an attentive group of children, encouraging discussion about safety. Teamwork and the important role police officers play in the community. Sgt. McKiernan and Officer Coleman were also present during the visit, engaging with students and answering questions.
Following story time, students were invited outside for an up-close look at police cruisers. Officers demonstrated the equipment and explained how the vehicles are used to help keep the community safe. The interactive experience gave children an opportunity to see law enforcement in a positive, approachable setting.
The visit reinforced the importance of early community engagement and helped build trust and familiarity between local law enforcement and families in Holden.
