Long Island — As Long Island recovers from Monday’s historic blizzard, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced increased Long Island Rail Road service for Tuesday afternoon and regular weekday service beginning Wednesday morning, with some schedule adjustments.

For Tuesday afternoon, half-hourly service has been restored on the Ronkonkoma Branch, and shuttle trains continue between Jamaica and Grand Central Madison. Two Babylon Branch trains and one Port Washington Branch train have been added for the afternoon peak.

The LIRR will resume regular weekday service at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, although some schedule modifications may remain due to the lingering effects of the storm. Trains will provide service to all three New York City terminals.

Crews continue to clear snow from 700 miles of track and multiple train yards, maintaining signals, switches, and third rails while addressing ongoing weather-related challenges.

Commuters can find up-to-date service information on the MTA website, the MTA smartphone app, the TrainTime app, through email alerts, or by calling 511. The apps provide real-time train, bus, and rail arrival times, ticketing options, and customer service access.
