Major League Baseball’s spring training slate Tuesday delivered a heavy dose of offense, as clubs across Arizona and Florida continued evaluating young arms and lineup depth ahead of the regular season.
The Atlanta Braves defeated the Detroit Tigers 8-1, with Reynaldo Lopez earning the win, Enmanuel De Jesus taking the loss and Owen Murphy recording the save. The Pittsburgh Pirates outslugged the Boston Red Sox 16-7 behind winning pitcher Carmen Mlodzinski, while Ranger Suarez was tagged with the loss. Baltimore topped Minnesota 10-5 as Albert Suarez earned the victory over Andrew Morris, and later the Tampa Bay Rays routed Minnesota 12-1, with Joe Boyle credited with the win and Christian MacLeod absorbing the loss.
The New York Yankees edged the Toronto Blue Jays 8-7 in a back-and-forth contest, with Will Warren earning the win, Grant Rogers taking the loss and Carson Coleman securing the save. Miami handled Philadelphia 6-1, as Zach Brzykcy picked up the win against Andrew Walling. Houston and the New York Mets played to a 6-6 tie after 10 innings, one of the few games on the day without a decisive outcome.
Milwaukee blanked the Athletics 10-0 behind Rob Zastryzny, with Mason Barnett taking the loss. The Chicago Cubs slipped past San Diego 6-5 as Shota Imanaga earned the win, Marco Gonzales was charged with the loss and Grant Kipp notched the save. Cincinnati edged Kansas City 5-4 with Trevor Kuncl earning the victory over Jonathan Heasley.
The Los Angeles Dodgers rolled to an 11-3 win over Cleveland, with Justin Wrobleski credited with the win and Colin Holderman taking the loss. Arizona defeated Texas 6-4 behind Andrew Hoffmann, while Austin Gomber took the loss and John Curtiss earned the save. Colorado topped the Los Angeles Angels 7-5 with Juan Mejia earning the win, Victor Mederos taking the loss and Ryan Miller collecting the save. San Francisco then defeated the Angels 4-1 as Logan Webb earned the win, Grayson Rodriguez took the loss and Braxton Roxby recorded the save.
In the Pacific Northwest, the Chicago White Sox outlasted Seattle 12-10 with Tyler Schweitzer earning the win, Nico Tellache taking the loss and Zachary Franklin securing the save. Washington closed out the day with a 6-1 victory over St. Louis, as Kyle Luckham earned the win and Mason Molina was charged with the loss.
While spring training results do not count in the standings, Tuesday’s games highlighted both the volatility of pitching staffs still building stamina and the offensive experimentation typical of late February. Several contests featured double-digit scoring, reflecting a mix of developing pitchers, split-squad lineups and early-camp rhythm. For contenders and rebuilding clubs alike, the focus remains less on the final score and more on refining rotations, solidifying bullpen roles and identifying position battles that will shape Opening Day rosters.
