HARTFORD, Connecticut — The Hartford Yard Goats are swinging for the fences as they roll out a massive, jam-packed 2026 promotional schedule celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Dunkin’ Park, and the organization is clearly betting big on spectacle, nostalgia, and nonstop fan engagement as it pushes toward another high-energy season in the Double-A Eastern League.
The Colorado Rockies affiliate will open its season in 57 days, launching the home slate on Thursday, April 2nd at 7:10 p.m. against the Baltimore Orioles affiliate, the Chesapeake Baysox. That opening night is not just another first pitch. It doubles as the 10th Anniversary Celebration of Dunkin’ Park, a venue that has become a centerpiece of downtown Hartford entertainment and continues to rack up national praise. The ballpark was selected as Newsweek Fans’ Choice Awards contest winner for Best Double-A Ballpark of 2025 and has repeatedly earned recognition from Ballpark Digest as the “Best Double-A Ballpark” in 2017, 2018, 2021, and 2022, becoming the first minor league stadium to capture the honor three times.
This anniversary season is loaded with fireworks — literally. The Yard Goats announced fans will be treated to 23 Post-Game Fireworks Shows, scheduled after every Friday and Saturday evening home game. The fireworks surge represents one of the largest postgame entertainment expansions the club has ever attempted, signaling a continued effort to transform games into full-scale family entertainment events rather than simple sporting contests.
The club is also leaning heavily into franchise history, announcing it will play two games as the Hartford Rock Cats on May 27th and May 28th, paying tribute to the former Eastern League franchise that helped launch the careers of stars including Hall of Famers David Ortiz and Joe Mauer, along with All-Stars Torii Hunter, Justin Morneau and Trevor Story. The nostalgia play reaches its peak on May 28th when fans will receive a collector’s David Ortiz “Big Papi” bobblehead giveaway, a promotional move clearly designed to tap into one of baseball’s most beloved personalities and Connecticut’s long minor league legacy.
The 2026 giveaway lineup is stacked with new merchandise promotions clearly designed to drive attendance across multiple demographics. The list includes the Captains Hat on May 14th, Adult Soccer & World Cup Jersey on June 23rd, Kids Hot Dog Jersey on June 25th, Kids Dunkin’ Jersey on July 8th, Roberto Clemente Pinstripe Hat on August 15th, Kids Pinstripe Jersey on August 18th, Adult Floridian Shirt on September 2nd, Adult Capital Glow Jersey on September 3rd, and Goat Horn Bucket Hat on September 4th. The organization is aggressively targeting both adults and children with separate promotional merchandise tracks, a strategy widely used in Minor League Baseball to maximize family attendance and repeat visits.
One of the biggest marquee events of the season returns with the ninth annual Whalers Alumni Game scheduled for July 31st, complete with postgame fireworks. The Yard Goats will wear specially designed hockey-style uniforms to honor the former NHL franchise, while former Hartford Whalers players will participate in autograph sessions and photo opportunities. Historic highlights will also be displayed on the video board, turning the event into both a sports tribute and a community nostalgia experience.
Fan participation staples remain firmly intact, with Kids Run the Bases continuing after every Sunday game and Baseball Bingo returning for every Tuesday contest. These programs have become key engagement tools that keep younger fans connected to the team beyond the scoreboard.
The team will also host Jackie Robinson Day on April 15th, honoring the Hall of Famer who broke Major League Baseball’s color barrier. Fans attending will receive a Jackie Robinson commemorative bracelet, reinforcing baseball’s ongoing connection to civil rights history and social progress.
The Yard Goats are also pushing the envelope with a wide range of new theme nights designed to capture cultural trends and social experiences. Single Again In the City on April 14th is described as a downtown Hartford divorce party featuring music, cocktails, and a toast to the future. ERA’s Night with DJ Swiftie on June 9th is a tribute to Taylor Swift with music and promotional activities. Wedding Vow Renewal Night on July 9th will allow married couples to renew their vows directly on the field. True Crime Night on August 18th invites fans to help solve a crime at the ballpark through interactive clues and prizes, representing a crossover between live sports entertainment and immersive event storytelling.
Returning fan-favorite theme nights include Bark in the Park on April 4th, allowing fans to bring their dogs to the game, Star Wars Day on May 3rd featuring character appearances, Unicorn Night on May 26th with a Kids Unicorn Horn Headband Giveaway, Dairy Day on June 14th celebrating Connecticut dairy farmers, Princess & Pirates Night on July 11th, 90’s Night on July 29th featuring a Neon Kids Jersey giveaway, Pajama Party Night on August 1st, Faith & Family Night on August 19th, Country Night on August 20th, Jewish Heritage Celebration on August 23rd, and the Final Regular Season Home Game Celebration on September 6th.
Heritage celebrations remain a major focus of the 2026 calendar. Irish Heritage Night will take place on April 17th featuring Irish music and performers, while Italian Heritage Night arrives August 13th with Italian food and cultural entertainment. The team is also introducing Polish Heritage Night on July 7th, honoring Polish traditions and history.
The organization continues its participation in Minor League Baseball’s Copa de la Diversión initiative by playing as Los Chivos de Hartford on May 13th, June 23rd, July 11th, and August 15th. The Spanish-language identity, which translates to the Goats of Hartford, is part of a broader league effort to embrace Hispanic and Latino communities across the United States. The August 15th Los Chivos game will also include a Roberto Clemente Celebration featuring a Roberto Clemente hat giveaway and fireworks show, blending cultural recognition with baseball legacy.
The Yard Goats will again highlight Black baseball history during the Celebration of Negro League Baseball on June 24th. The team will play as the Hartford Schoolboys, honoring Johnny “Schoolboy” Taylor, who was the first black athlete to play professional baseball in Hartford. The event will spotlight the contributions of Negro League players and the historical transformation of the sport.
The team is also placing strong emphasis on community awareness and social advocacy nights throughout the season. Scheduled events include Deaf Awareness Night on April 16th, Mental Health Awareness Night on May 12th, Pride Night on June 10th, Pink Out the Park on June 26th featuring a pink cap giveaway, First Responders Night on July 30th, Home Run for Heroes on August 16th, Military Appreciation Night on August 21st, Junior Fire Marshal Night on August 23rd, Organized Labor Night on September 5th, and four Most Improved Student Nights scheduled for April 15th-16th and April 29th-30th.
The team has also released an extensive fireworks calendar featuring dates across April through September, along with a full Kids Run the Bases schedule running throughout the season.
Individual game tickets for all home games are scheduled to go on sale Thursday, February 5th at 10:00 a.m. Tickets will be available online at yardgoatsbaseball.com, by phone at 860-246-4628, or in person at the Click It or Ticket Box Office at Dunkin’ Park. Season tickets, group tickets, hospitality packages, and luxury suites are also currently available through the team’s ticket office.
As the Yard Goats approach a milestone anniversary season, the organization is clearly betting on a high-octane mix of baseball tradition, entertainment innovation, cultural celebrations, and community outreach to maintain Dunkin’ Park’s reputation as one of the premier experiences in Minor League Baseball.
