WORCESTER, MASS. — A high-risk surveillance operation by Worcester police detectives unraveled a major illegal gun and drug trafficking operation, landing two suspects in custody and pulling large quantities of narcotics and a defaced firearm off the street.

On February 5, 2026, vice detectives working alongside the Gang and Crime Gun Intelligence Unit were watching a residence on Fairfax Road, where investigators knew 33-year-old Timothy Campbell was staying. Police were already actively looking for Campbell, who had multiple outstanding arrest warrants tied to drug offenses and assault with a dangerous weapon.

At around 5 p.m., detectives watched Campbell leave the apartment with a woman later identified as 34-year-old Mary Swenson. Officers moved in immediately, arresting Campbell on his outstanding warrants. Suspected crack cocaine was found on him during the arrest, and additional rocks of suspected crack cocaine were recovered from Swenson.

After being advised of his Miranda rights, Campbell attempted to distance himself from the apartment, giving evasive answers and denying any connection to the residence. He also denied that a set of keys found on him belonged to the apartment, despite those same keys later being used to unlock the door.

Based on the arrests, the drugs seized, and the totality of the investigation, vice detectives applied for and obtained a search warrant.

What investigators uncovered inside was extensive.

During a thorough search of the apartment, detectives recovered large quantities of substances suspected to be cocaine and crystal methamphetamine packaged in numerous knotted bags. The combined weight of the cocaine and meth was approximately 800 grams. Police also recovered about 24 grams of fentanyl.

Detectives located a large-capacity firearm with a defaced serial number, along with additional white crystal and powder substances totaling roughly 800 grams in multiple bags. Some of the substances were field-tested and came back positive for methamphetamine and cocaine. Investigators also seized counterfeit Adderall pills, along with drug packaging and processing materials.

A records check revealed that neither Campbell nor Swenson possessed a firearm identification card or a license to carry. The Worcester police Crime Scene Unit safely recovered the weapon.

Both suspects now face serious charges, including trafficking a Class B substance over 200 grams involving methamphetamine, trafficking cocaine over 200 grams, and multiple firearm-related offenses, as detectives say the case highlights the dangerous overlap between illegal firearms and large-scale drug distribution operating inside residential neighborhoods.
