Bloomfield, Conn. — A man was shot multiple times Tuesday night in a violent incident that sent police racing to a residential street and left investigators searching for answers.
Bloomfield police were called to a home on Elizabeth Avenue around 8:30 p.m. after reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they found evidence of a chaotic scene, including multiple spent shell casings scattered in the area. Police said several vehicles were involved and one man was hit.
The victim, described by police as a 40-year-old man, was shot in the chest, side and arm. Authorities said he did not wait for emergency crews and was driven from the scene in a red car before admitting himself to Hartford Hospital.
Police said the man underwent surgery for life-threatening injuries.
Investigators believe there are no other victims, but no suspect information has been released and no arrests have been announced. The motive for the shooting remains unclear as detectives continue to piece together what led up to the gunfire.
Bloomfield police are urging anyone with information to contact the Bloomfield Police Department at 860-242-5501 as the investigation continues.
