The CAA didn’t whisper this announcement — it kicked the door down.

When the Stats Perform FCS All-America teams dropped Wednesday afternoon, CAA Football didn’t just show up. It dominated. Sixteen players landed on the All-America teams, with five more freshmen stamped as future stars. That’s not representation. That’s a statement.

Start at the top, where the first-team All-Americans live. Monmouth sophomore running back Rodney Nelson is already playing like the league owes him respect. Rhode Island junior wide receiver Marquis Buchanan turned production into inevitability. Monmouth graduate lineman JT Cornelius and William & Mary graduate linebacker Luke Banbury brought veteran authority to the list, while Rhode Island senior linebacker A.J. Pena proved consistency still matters.

Special teams? The CAA owned it. New Hampshire sophomore kicker Nick Reed, Elon senior punter Jeff Yurk, and Villanova sophomore kick returner Ja’briel Mace made sure every inch of the field was accounted for.

The second team wasn’t any softer. Monmouth junior wide receiver Josh Derry kept the league honest. William & Mary graduate lineman Ryan McKenna and Elon sophomore defensive lineman Kahmari Brown controlled the trenches. William & Mary senior cornerback Jalen Jones locked down his side, and North Carolina A&T junior Elijah Kennedy made every punt return an event.

Then there’s the third team — where Villanova senior lineman Stephane Voltaire, Villanova senior linebacker Shane Hartzell, and Rhode Island senior cornerback Ayinde Johnson reminded everyone that depth wins seasons.

And the freshmen? This is where the rest of the country should start paying attention. Rhode Island lineman Damon McMillian, William & Mary defensive lineman Justin Krueger, Monmouth’s Lamont Lester Jr., Villanova defensive back Anthony Hawkins, and Villanova punt returner Braden Reed aren’t “nice stories.” They’re warnings.

This isn’t hype. It’s hardware. While other conferences argue potential, the CAA stacks All-Americans. Top to bottom, offense, defense, special teams, veterans and freshmen — the scoreboard doesn’t lie.

Ignore it if you want. The postseason won’t.
