A Vermont man was seriously injured after Troopers stumbled onto his wrecked pickup lying on its side in the middle of Long Hill Road in Concord, Vermont authorities said.

Troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks were already in town on an unrelated call around 7:03 p.m. on Nov. 29 when they came across the crashed Toyota Tundra. The truck, a 2006 model with Vermont plates, had “totaling damage,” according to police.

The driver, 67-year-old Kenneth Yattaw of Concord, wasn’t wearing a seat belt. As Troopers spoke with him, “indicators of impairment were detected,” police said. He was rushed first to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital, then transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, for further care.

Vermont State Police say alcohol impairment is believed to be a factor, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the St. Johnsbury Barracks at 802-748-3111. Court action is pending in Essex County Superior Court – Criminal Division.
