Boston — Police seized four unregistered motorcycles in the Fenway Thursday night as part of “Operation Safe Scooter,” a continuing crackdown on illegal rides that’s been sweeping through city neighborhoods all year.

The sting, carried out by officers from District D-4 (South End/Fenway), targeted unregistered scooters, mopeds, and motorcycles that have been tearing through streets and sidewalks, posing safety risks for residents and drivers alike.

The operation is part of a larger enforcement push aimed at restoring order in busy areas like the South End, Back Bay, and Fenway — where reckless riders have become a chronic nuisance.

Since the start of 2025, “Operation Safe Scooter” has pulled 51 unregistered bikes off the streets across those neighborhoods. Police say the message is simple: ride legally or lose your wheels.

Officials are asking residents to report suspicious or dangerous driving to their local district station, or anonymously through the Boston Police CrimeStoppers tip line at 1-800-494-TIPS, by texting “TIP” to CRIME (27463), or through the department’s website.

The Fenway sweep is the latest move in Boston’s growing effort to keep unregistered motorcycles and mopeds from turning city streets into free-for-all racetracks.
