UMass One of Three Remaining Winless Teams

There are three winless teams left in the college football/NFL realm, and one of them lies right here in our own backyard. The UMass Minutemen currently sit at an 0-7 record on the 2025 season and sit in last place in the Mid-American Conference.

After an opening 42-10 loss to Temple, the Minutemen did give Bryant a run for their money in their home opener, but ultimately fell 27-26. Things went downhill from there as they didn’t score more than seven points over their next four games. Hitting rock bottom, however, was losing 42-6 to a Kent State team many deemed the worst in all FBS.

Things looked up during their last game against Buffalo as UMass held a 14-3 in the final minutes of the first half. They also held on to a 21-20 lead through almost the entire fourth quarter. With 19 seconds left, however, the Buffaloes scored the game-winning touchdown for a 28-21 victory, sending the Minutemen to 0-7.

The good news for this team is that after their road game against 4-3 Central Michigan, the Minutemen take on 2-6 Akron followed by 1-6 Northern Illinois. So maybe, just maybe, UMass can avoid a winless season before it’s all said and done.
