A South Jersey woman was stabbed to death early Friday morning, and authorities have arrested a teenager in connection with the brutal killing.
Vineland police were called to a home on Union Road around 4 a.m. after reports of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they found 38-year-old Christina Asselta suffering from multiple stab wounds. First responders tried to save her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
A joint investigation by the Vineland Police Department and the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office quickly zeroed in on a 17-year-old suspect, who authorities say knew Asselta. The teen was taken into custody at the home and has been charged with murder along with related offenses.
Officials have not released further details due to the suspect’s age and the ongoing investigation. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward, providing tips to Detective Glenn Capazzi at 856-691-4111, Ext. 4139, or Cumberland County Detective Scola at 856-453-0486 Ext. 11169. Case reference number 47554-2025 should be cited.
This tragic early-morning attack has left the Vineland community shaken as authorities continue piecing together the circumstances behind Asselta’s death.
