Boston College took a beating on the road Saturday, falling 48-7 to Pittsburgh in an afternoon blowout.

Pitt set the tone early, marching down the field on its opening drive as quarterback Mason Heintschel hit Justin Holmes for a 14-yard touchdown. The Panthers kept rolling, tacking on a 31-yard field goal from Trey Butkowski to make it 10-0.

Boston College’s defense had no answers in the second quarter, giving up three more touchdowns as Pitt stormed into halftime with a commanding 31-0 lead. The Panthers didn’t let up after the break, adding two more touchdowns and a field goal in the second half.

The Eagles finally got on the board late in the fourth quarter when freshman quarterback Shaker Reisig made his collegiate debut. Reisig led a nine-play, 80-yard drive, going a perfect 3-for-3 through the air for 70 yards, capped off with a three-yard touchdown pass to Kaelan Chudzinski.

Chudzinski led BC receivers with three catches for 70 yards and his first career touchdown. On defense, Omar Thornton and KP Price each recorded 10 tackles, with Thornton forcing a fumble. Edwin Kolenge, Chris Marable Jr., and Cameron Martinez each notched a quarterback hurry.

Boston College heads home next weekend for a prime-time matchup against Clemson at Alumni Stadium, kicking off at 7:30 p.m.
