CAA Winners & Losers This Week: Explosive Plays, Heartbreaks, and Historic Wins
By Tiffany Williams –

WINNERS
Monmouth Hawks – The Hawks made Villanova look amateurish, storming to a 51-33 victory. Big plays? How about a 75-yard bomb from Derek Robertson to Josh Derry on the second play of the game, then a 72-yard strike to Makhi Green? Villanova’s brief rally got crushed as Monmouth scored 24 unanswered points and made game-changing defensive stops, including a forced fumble and a goal-line stand. Hawks remain perfect against Villanova, 4-0.
Howard Bison – Howard snapped an eight-game losing streak to Hampton in the 100th meeting of the Battle of the Real HU. Travis Kerney scored 38 yards into the first quarter, and a trick play in the second boosted the Bison to a 20-0 halftime lead. Kedrick Green’s interception sealed it. Hampton’s offense never found a rhythm, finishing with just 96 yards.
NCCU Eagles – North Carolina Central humiliated arch-rival North Carolina A&T, 62-20, with 745 total yards. Chris Mosley gashed the Aggies for 168 rushing yards and three touchdowns, plus 90 yards and two scores through the air. Kevin White returned from injury but couldn’t spark A&T’s ground game (42 yards). Eagles scored on two safeties, establishing dominance early.
William & Mary Tribe – W&M celebrated Coach Mike London’s 100th career win with a 34-7 blowout over Charleston Southern. Tyler Hughes threw for 296 yards and four TDs, while tight end Jackson Blee caught his first career scores, including a 63-yard beauty. W&M’s defense forced multiple turnovers and limited Charleston Southern to 86 rushing yards.
Rhode Island Rams – The Rams cruised past LIU, 28-7, scoring in every quarter and holding the Sharks to single digits for the second straight game. Devin Farrell found Marquis Buchanan for a 35-yard touchdown, and Antwain Littleton Jr. ran for 119 yards and a TD. Rhode Island now starts 4-0 for just the fourth time in program history.
LOSERS
Villanova Wildcats – Monmouth exposed their flaws in a 51-33 loss. Wildcats’ brief rally fell flat as Monmouth’s offense and defense ran the show.
Hampton Pirates – Eight straight losses to Howard loom large after a 34-7 beatdown. Key player Ja’Quan Snipes was out with injury, but the offense still sputtered for just 96 yards.
North Carolina A&T Aggies – Four straight losses to NCCU now, with the latest a 62-20 embarrassment. The running game never showed, and multiple injuries at quarterback forced Kevin White back early.
Bryant Bulldogs – Heartbreak strikes again. Bryant lost 50-48 in double overtime to Campbell, marking their fifth straight OT loss. Brennan Myer threw a game-tying 35-yard TD with six seconds left, but the Bulldogs fell victim to a second-chance two-point conversion by Campbell.
Towson Tigers – Led by 11 in the fourth quarter, Towson collapsed, losing 31-28 on a last-second field goal to Youngstown State. Trick plays worked early, but the Penguins finished stronger.
Maine Black Bears – First-half heroics by Carter Peevy couldn’t stop Georgia Southern, who poured in 45 points. Devin Vaught’s 76-yard pick-6 was Maine’s lone highlight.
Elon Phoenix – Two-game win streak ended by ETSU, 26-16. Redshirt freshman Landen Clark showed flashes, but two costly third-quarter turnovers killed the comeback.
