Sprout Organics Recalls Sweet Potato Apple & Spinach Pouches Over Possible Lead Contamination

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) is warning consumers about a voluntary recall of Sprout Organics Sweet Potato Apple and Spinach pouches due to potentially elevated lead levels.

The affected product is a 3.5-ounce pouch, Lot Code 4212, with an expiration date of 10/29/2025. The pouches were sold primarily at Walgreens and select independent stores in southern states between September and December 2024. No other Sprout Organics products are affected.

Lead exposure, even at low levels, can increase blood lead levels and potentially affect learning and development in children if exposure is prolonged.

Consumers who have the recalled product are advised to return it to the store for a full refund. No illnesses have been reported to date.
